MANILA, the Philippines – The results for the November 2018 Philippine bar examination will be released today May 3, 2019 (Friday). The full list of passers and top notchers or top twenty (20) passers is reproduced here, courtesy of SC.
SC Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo, chairperson of the 2018 Bar Exams Committee, will announce the results at the SC front yard in Padre Faura Street in Manila.

A source from the SC said that #Bar2018 has a passing rate of 22.07%
The said bar exam took place in the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and completed on the four Sundays of November 2018 (4, 11, 18 and 25). A total of 8,701 law graduates admitted the grueling Bar exams, facilitated by the high court’s committee on the 2018 Bar exams chaired by Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo.
Only 8,155 test takers finished the four-day grueling exam in November 2018 — the highest so far in the history of Bar exams. And 543 examinees failed to show up on the first day of examinations.
Last year, the country welcomed 1,724 new lawyers, posting a 25.5% passing rate.

BAR 2018 EXAMINERS
The Committee on Bar Examinations consists of 8 examiners – one for each Bar subject – who are considered experts in their particular fields. The committee chair has the discretion to choose these examiners, and they are bound by strict confidentiality during the Bar examinations.
COVERAGE OF EXAMINATION
The examination covered the following topics and their associated sub-topic, popularly known as the bar subjects:
- 1st Sunday – Political Law and Public International Law (15%); Labor and Social Legislation (10%)
- 2nd Sunday – Civil Law (15%); Taxation (10%)
- 3rd Sunday – Mercantile Law (15%); Criminal Law (10%)
- 4th Sunday – Remedial law (20%); Legal and Judicial Ethics(5%)
The 2017 Philippine Bar exams had 100% essay-type questions based on bulletin about guidelines and rules of conduct of bar examinations posted on SC website.
